Symphonic Band

The Thunder Symphonic Band is the top performing ensemble at THMS. Placement in Symphonic Band is the natural progression following completion of one year in Advanced band and is comprised mostly of third year players. Placement in Symphonic Band is made at the discretion of the Band Directors. This group is subject to chair tests, as well as weekly playing tests. Upon placement in this group, daily practice is expected. The Thunder Symphonic Band performs evening concerts and at the District Music Performance Assessment and possibly the State Band Competition. A few extra rehearsals outside of the regular school day may be necessary to assist in concert preparation, which are required and graded. Attendance at all performances is mandatory.
