What is Band?
Band is our vehicle for experiencing music. Most importantly, band is a music class. we deal with the learning of music both how to understand, feel, and read it. There are three main ways at THMS to learn about music and those are Band, Orchestra and Choir.
Band deals with wind and percussion instruments. we take that route to navigate the music learning process. In band we learn how to think musically (Audiate) and feel music. This takes us to reading music, and eventually applying all of this to an instrument. Students have the opportunity to play a variety of wind and percussion instruments and we aim to find the perfect match for all students. Students in band build build confidence and engage their full brain daily. We make not only great musicians in band, but great human beings as well. We value characteristics such as kindness, leadership, confidence, and mindfulness.
