Mr. Cordova, Head Band Director

Born and raised in Albuquerque, NM, Mr. Cordova attended Manzano High School and got his degree in Music Education from UNM and Master's in Music Education from UNM as well. Mr. Cordova primarily plays bassoon and saxophone. He spent many years as a marching band assistant in various high schools across Albuquerque. He is on year five of teaching at THMS, and year nine overall. Mr. Cordova's bands consistently receive high marks across competitions and festivals each year and has adjudicated pre-festival concerts and solo and ensemble contests around the Albuquerque and Santa Fe area. Outside of teaching, Mr. Cordova is an avid cook and self proclaimed, "foodie". His wife Ms. Maris is an orchestra teacher in Albuquerque, and they have two children, Lea and Jonas to keep them very busy.

Mr. Dickson, Assistant Band Director

Samuel Dickson started band as a trumpet player in 2007. By the time he graduated high school he knew he wanted to be a band teacher. After graduating from Utah State University, he returned to southern Utah where he taught middle school band and worked with local ensembles both as a performer and a conductor.

In 2024, Mr. Dickson came to Albuquerque to improve his trumpet playing at the University of New Mexico and eat sopapillas. Since graduating this spring he has been participating in jam sessions around Albuquerque and preparing to return to teaching.

Mr. Dickson is fluent in Portuguese, is one quarter Puerto Rican, and spends too much time thinking about dinosaurs.

Mr. Christmas, 5th grade band director, VRES

Mr. Lind, 5th Grade Band Director At TAES

Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mr. Lind is an active performer and instructor of woodwind instruments. His experience ranges across styles, including classical, chamber music, new music, jazz, and pop, and he is particularly interested in contemporary concert music as well as its intersection with other genres. Matt takes every opportunity to perform, including many musical theater pits, chamber music recitals, orchestras, local jazz combos, and more.
Mr. Lind has worked with THMS as a woodwind instructor for four years now, and is on his second full year in teaching 5th grade band at TAES.

Mr. Lind also enjoys riding and working on bicycles, and spending time with his partner, Liz, and Corgi, Clara.
